Cody Waterman started working as a line service tech when he was 19 years old. Currently serving as the line service manager at TAC Air-DAL, Waterman has become enamored with aviation.
“The more I worked in the industry and participated in it, the more I fell in love with it,” he said. “Now, I’m proud to have helped open the newest FBO at Dallas Love Field Airport, TAC Air-DAL.”
Previously, Waterman worked with the 15 TAC Air FBO locations each day to aid in their efforts to provide safe and efficient line service and exceptional customer service.
Waterman also mentors new team members to TAC Air in addition to seasoned leaders and actively participates in industry work groups and committees to help improve the safety of FBO ground operators at TAC Air and beyond. For example, Waterman worked on improving the company’s operations by leading the deployment of an electronic fuel QC auditing program, then shared the innovation with industry leaders who in turn shared it on a national level.
And a cause close to Waterman’s heart is the continued professionalization of the ground operations field.
“There are so many terms out there. Ramp rat, line boy, counter girl. It takes a huge amount of technical knowledge not found in those titles to excel at line service, specifically in the FBO environment. I think more credit is needed for the line employees who make this happen each day, bringing professionalization of the workforce,” he said.
