All-female flyover makes history in honor of Capt. Rosemary Mariner
TAC AirMon, Feb 04, 2019
Capt. Rosemary Mariner made history as one of the first women to fly a tactical fighter jet in 1974. She died last month from ovarian cancer and was honored at her funeral on Saturday with an all-female flyover — a first in naval history.
The pilots flew a formation of five F/A-18 "Super Hornets" over Mariner's burial place at New Loyston Cemetery in Maynardville and landed at TAC Air airport at around 3:30 pm.
